Minnesota Council
for the Social Studies

The Minnesota Council for the Social Studies (MCSS) is launching a new monthly webinar series to provide educators with ongoing, high-quality professional development that deepens both content knowledge and instructional skills.

Social studies is a constantly evolving field, shaped by new research, emerging perspectives, and fresh interpretations of historical and contemporary issues. Through this series, educators will have direct access to leading experts from across the country, gaining insight into the latest scholarship, innovative teaching strategies, and emerging topics that may not be part of their regular curriculum. Each webinar will be designed to enhance participants’ ability to engage students in meaningful, relevant learning—whether through integrating new technologies, fostering critical thinking, or developing culturally responsive and inclusive approaches to instruction.

Beyond content enrichment, the MCSS webinar series will serve as a vital hub for professional connection and resource sharing. Attendees will not only learn from nationally recognized scholars, educators, and organizations, but will also be introduced to high-quality tools such as lesson plans, primary sources, and digital learning platforms to strengthen their teaching practice. The online format ensures that this learning is accessible and flexible, with both live and recorded sessions available for convenient participation. By offering a consistent, accessible space for collaboration, idea exchange, and skill development, MCSS is investing in the long-term growth and excellence of social studies education in Minnesota and beyond.
